Circuit analysis is the heart of what I do.  Analysis allows the designer to achieve insights (sometimes unique) into the results of new topologies or novel connections of circuit components.  I can and will to SPICE analysis, but I prefer to do circuit analysis on paper with pencil.  This is not a Luddite responding to a digital tool, I just prefer the feel I get for circuit function when I analyze a circuit piece by piece.

Circuit analysis by itself is a gratifying exercise.  OK, for me it is.  However, it is of little commercial use by itself.  A couple of places where it is important in itself is in product support, competitive analysis and litigation.
