Design For ComplianceThere are some very simple things that one can do to reduce EMC problems. I have seen tens of amperes phase switched with a triac to achieve a fixed RMS voltage output from a 100 to 240VRMS AC waveform. This caused horrendous EMC problems that could easily have been solved with the inclusion of a fixed output switch mode supply. This is just one system EMC problem I can think of right now. There are lots of others. Where is the line filter in a system? How is the cabling laid out? Are signals routed single ended or differentially? Often these issues are correctly chosen with no cost to the system and no impact to a design schedule if the choices are made early in the design cycle. This is a design issue I can help with. The other issue that can impact EMC - both susceptability and emissions - is PC board layout. I can offer you help it this area too. Let me see your EMC challenge. I can probably contribute to solving your problem - maybe before it is a problem. |
